Satellite Academies
Satellite Academies are the first stage of the Long Term Development Programme developed by England Netball.
Players are aged 14 or under but older than 11 years. If successful, the selected player will receive top quality coaching, sports science and individualised fitness programmes. The Academies run from October to March. Entry to each Academy is via nomination to a Development workshop starting September and success at the trials in October.
Academy players train indoors for a 15 week programme.
There is also an academy day where girls from all five academies are invited to come together to receive specialist advice and coaching.
Surrey Netball offer 5 academies each season. 2 Satellite academies, where the top 40 girls from the trials are offered a place in one of the Satellite Academies held at Nonsuch School in Cheam. Surrey Netball then offer a further 3 Development Academies for roughly 66 girls who have been selected at the trials as having potential and need that little extra coaching to get to the Satellite level.
