High 5 Netball

High-5 Netball is the only England Netball recommended version of the game for children in school years 5 and 6 (9 to 11 years).

High 5 Netball is a fun, skilful game, where players are able to rotate positions and adapt their skills to play in any position. Along with many other sports, England Netball believes that a modified game at this age group provides the best foundation for young people to develop the physical, social and tactical skills required, in addition to developing knowledge and understanding of the game.

Basic Concepts/rules

  * 5 players on the court
  * Other squad members take on the roles of timekeeper, score, umpire and centre pass marker
  * Squad rotation
  * Size 4 Netball
  * 9ft post
  * 4 seconds to pass the ball
  * Normal court markings - up to a full sized court
  * 4 quarters of 6 minutes

Workshops for teachers / coaches / leaders

Three practical workshops are currently available for coaches, teachers and leaders to provide the skills to coach and umpire the game. Each workshop is two hours long.

  * Workshop 1 - Principles of High-5: This workshop allows teachers, coaches and leaders to be familiar with the philosophy and principles behind High 5 Netball and be able to deliver the game.

  * Workshop 2 - Skills and Drills for High-5: This workshop provides teachers, coaches and leaders with numerous skills and drills they can implement during sessions to develop the skills required to play High-5 Netball.

  *Workshop 3 - High-5 Umpire: This workshop provides teachers and coaches with the rules of the game and how to umpire High-5.

Workshops cost £15.00 for affiliated and £20.00 for nonaffilaited attendees and last 2 hours. Please note that affilation to England Netball for Primary Schools is now FREE.
